Political junkies like me were streaming between CNN for their interactive Poll Map, MSNBC for its pro-Joe surprise comeback reporting and YouTube for The Young Turks clinging to anything to make it seem like Bernie was winning in all of the states he lost. The worst moment of the night was when Cenk Uygur and his team of progressives made it clear that they say that beating Trump is important to them but what's more important is who beats Trump.
The live stream felt like watching the most spoiled, entitled, rich kids who curse their mother out in public because they didn't get the latest iPhone. Is Trump the worst president in history? Cerk would probably shout "OF COURSE" but they don't want a candidate that they agree with the majority of their policies, no, they want what they want and they want it now. The list of reasons to self-sabotage the party they support because Bernie may not be the nominee is shocking. Mostly it's the Elite. I'm a broke black man from Houston, my vote is not brainwashing or me being an elite slave. My choice was practical and made with the facts that Trump is obviously afraid of Biden.
My black vote isn't because he knows Obama. Let's be clear, Obama didn't have the black vote until he proved he could convince white voters. Then the black vote, like mine, began to look closer. Biden became his VP and we had eight years to get to know him. Biden's record is not great, he has gaffs, and to be honest, if it wasn't for him being a decent VP I would be throwing him away too. The majority of the democratic party will not discount his good record and what he did as the VP of the first black president for a man who in recent history saught to primary Obama in 2012. Is it fair that one thing will linger in some black people's minds that will cause them to hold grudges against Bernie? No. But it is what it is.
Let's not pretend that the progressives are any better. I can't have Bernie so I'm not going to vote for Biden. Then if Trump wins, the way it played out in 2016 they'll try to say it was because Biden and Clinton did not represent the will of the people. So to them, my vote is enough to get Biden over Bernie but it is not real and its the establishment but if Biden loses to Trump its because the establishment can't beat Trump? No, it will be because a significant number of Bernie Bros will not show up just to make Biden lose then act as they predicted it. It's not a prediction its a determination. The question the progressives need to ask themselves is what's more important, beating Trump or having a Bernie presidency because these two options may not coexist.
