Black Adam Review *Fun But Heavy With Campy

Black Adam overall is a good time at the movies. I recommend going to

see it at the theaters. It was visually enjoyable watching an anti-hero not give a damn about

following the rules was fun. The Rock pulled that off the spirit of the character and at times got me to forget I was watching The Rock in a movie and was watching the character being portrayed convincingly. The dialog and underdeveloped villain were the weakest things about the film. There were just too many over-inflated speeches that were not necessary and campy/trope-heavy acting that took me out of the movie, at times.

Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman were the better parts of the film. This could have worked as a Hawkman film if The Rock wasn't playing Black Adam. The two that didn't work well for me were the Cyclone and Atom Smasher characters. What was supposed to come off as an awkward cute budding romance just got tired after the first failed attempt.

If you're looking for a good time watching some good popcorn-crunching action, this is your film. There was definitely more here to enjoy and I'm looking forward to what else The Rock can bring us as Black Adam. Not in a top 5 but I can probably place it in the 6 or 7 columns out of all of the DCEU films if I were to rank them all.
